SFHS - Just the Facts
(SFHS School Profile 2007-2008)

St. Francis High School, established in 1940, is a four-year, all-female college preparatory high school. It is the only Catholic high school in Sacramento affiliated with the Diocese of Sacramento, and serves young women hailing from over fifty private and public feeder schools in the California counties of Sacramento, Yolo, El Dorado, and Placer.

St. Francis is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Western Catholic Education Association (WCEA).

  • PSAT and National Merit Program: The Class of 2008 qualified: 11 Commended students; 1 Semi-Finalist; 4 National Hispanic Scholars, and 2 National Achievement Scholars.

Extracurricular & Co-Curricular Activities

Students can participate in 42 clubs and 5 academic teams. 75% of the student body is enrolled in Fine Arts. Student performances and/or exhibitions abound in choir, orchestra, theater, dance and visual art. The Fine Arts program has received many regional awards and nominations in recent years.

Student-developed publications include our school newspaper, The Mandolin, and our school yearbook, The Canticle.

Students can participate in 12 sports at 27 levels. 53% of the student body participates in athletics.
