SF Players present
CAESAR & MACBETH
“Double, Double, Toil and Trouble”
By John E. Lee

Based on “Julius Caesar” and “The Tragedy of Macbeth" By William Shakespeare

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Caesar and Macbeth: Double Double Toil & Trouble. This outstanding production received a Superior Award and played before a sold out audience at CSUS in January 2005.

This unique play takes a look at politics and power inspired by two of Shakespeare’s great plays. The characters are controlled and manipulated by supernatural powers and events that bring the two titled characters on a collision course of evil and misadventure. This is not an abridged version of either play but a complete work in and of itself. Award winning Sacramento playwright John E. Lee met with the SF Players and, using an idea formulated by the class, adapted the script. The result is a chilling look at corrupted power and asks the question, “was there ever a way out?”

The forty members of the SF Players performed on the St. Francis Theatre stage for two performances before taking this production to the CSUS Lenaea Festival that weekend.
