This course, conducted in the language, includes a thorough grammar review as well as the study of literary works and films. French IV AP is an advanced level course designed to challenge the highly motivated student in the study of the language and in aspects of its literature, its films, and its culture.This course is intended for the student who wishes to continue studying the language at the university level, these courses aim to develop a Medium to High Intermediate Level of proficiency (in accordance with ACTFL – American Council of Teaching of Foreign Languages) in all areas of the language: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Competence in speaking is promoted by discussions about the literary pieces read and the films viewed. Strong emphasis is placed on narrative, analytical, and persuasive writing. This course prepares the student for the Advanced Placement Examination. All students enrolled in this course are required to take the AP French exam at the end of the year. UC A-G approved – e Language Other than English. NCAA approved.

Prerequisite:  B+ in Honors French 3 or A in French 3 and teacher recommendation
