Theatre Students Perform at Mondavi Center

On November 7, members of the SF Players performed selected scenes from William Shakespeare's classic tale of jealousy and revenge, Othello. This was the concluding event of The Globe Academy, sponsored by the Mondavi Center, UC Davis and The Globe Theatre in London. Last spring, members of the group attended Mondavi workshops and Mrs. Eisenstein spent a summer residency at the Globe Theatre. On September 13, Globe Theatre instructor Adam Coleman spent a morning working on the project with the cast.

Students from 12 schools spanning elementary through high school presented a shortened version of the entire play. The day began at 9am with a walk-through of the performance, and was quickly followed with dress rehearsal, lunch, and the final performance. A concluding pizza party was held in the Mondavi lobby.

Everyone was impressed by the commitment of the teachers and students. Patrick Spottiswode, the Director of Globe Education, expressed to Mrs. Eisenstein his delight that so much of the Bard's text remained intact. It was a very busy day and an exciting experience for everyone involved.

Fourteen of our SF Players participated in this endeavor. We are extremely proud of our performers: Stephanie C. '08; Elena C. '08; Harlee D. '08; Molly F. '09; Brianna H. '08; Dylana J. '09; Molly K. '08; Maggie L. '08; Lauren M. '09; Chloe M. '09; Eileen N. '08; Leena R. '08; Alex S. '08; Yara Z. '09.

Instrumental Music Director Featured at Folsom Lake Symphony

Horatio has appeared as a cellist with orchestras in Illinois, Iowa, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, Washington and California. A former faculty member at the University of Wyoming, Cornell College, Idaho State University, and Humboldt State, he now teaches orchestra, jazz ensemble (a new group this year), AP music theory, and solo/ensemble classes at SFHS.
