Parent Service Program
Your service makes great things possible at St. Francis High School!
Participation in the Parent Service Program, under the auspices of the Parents Guild,
requires a minimum of 25 hours of service from each family of freshmen through juniors and
15 hours for senior-only families. Participation is a condition of attendance in the school.

Parent Service Program FAQs
Why a Parent Service Program?
- Parents provide valuable service to the school.
- Parents have the opportunity to meet each other and build community.
- Our school gains access to talents and abilities that we would otherwise have to fund.
What is the Parent Service Program?
- Parents perform a prescribed number of hours of service each year or pay a higher,
non-participation rate of tuition
- Parents of students in grades 9-11 perform 25 hours of service per year.
- Senior-only parents perform 15 hours.
The additional tuition is currently $300 per year for non-participating families.
Diocesan regulations mandate that this amount cannot be prorated for partial hours completed; therefore, all 25 (or 15) hours must be performed and reported
to avoid paying the non-participation fee.
What types of service may I perform?
- You may participate in services that benefit the school, its students (for school-related activities), or are in support of an activity or event sponsored by one of the school auxiliary groups (Parents Guild, Booster Club, Patrons of the Arts, etc.). If you are uncertain about a particular service, verify with the Director of Special Events.
- You may provide supplies that benefit school events (bottled waters, desserts, etc.) that are specifically requested through the Parent Service Program. Since time and effort are involved in procuring and delivering these needed items, service hours are given (1 hour per $5 spent).
| Important to Note: The following donations do not earn service hours: |
|
Donations of cash or items to the school or to school events that are not specifically requested through the Parent Service Program do not earn service hours.
Donations to the Stewardship Program, “Revelry,” Crab Feed, Father-Daughter Dance, Fashion Show, Golf Tournament, and in-kind donations of school supplies or equipment do not earn service hours.

How do I find out about service opportunities?
- Join our email distribution list - this is the best way to keep current!
To get on the e-mail list, contact Ingrid Niles.
- View current opportunities on the website.
- Read announcements in the school newsletters.
- Submit a Parent Service Program Interest form, so we can create lists of interested parents to provide to event chairpersons. When volunteers are needed the chairpersons are encouraged to call the names on their lists. If you are counting on participating in an event, we suggest that you not wait to receive a call, but rather contact the chairperson well in advance of the event to offer your services!
- There are service opportunities that may not be specifically listed that count for
service hours. For example: driving athletes to games, chaperoning tournaments, working snack bars for SF athletic events, sewing costumes or building sets for theatrical performances, judging speech and debate tournaments, career day presentations, attending board and committee meetings.
Choose the opportunities that fit into your schedule and your areas of expertise or interest.
Who may perform the service hours?
According to diocesan regulations, only parents or guardians may serve hours for your family.
Who keeps track of service hours?
What is the procedure and timeline for reporting hours?
- When your required hours are completed, return the Parent Service Report Form to the school. (Please keep a copy for yourself.) Send it in only when the total is 25 or more hours (15 hours for parents of seniors without younger sisters at SF).
- Senior families: The deadline for reporting parent service hours is January 15th.
Non-participating families will be charged $300.
- All other classes: The deadline for reporting parent service hours is May 1st.
Non-participating families will be charged $300.
Feel free to report the many hours you may serve above the required minimum
so we can recognize our top volunteers.
You may begin earning service hours for the next school year on May 1st.
“Extra” parent service hours are not carried over to the following year.
