A note from the composers of LEFT: “When we first started talking about the possibility of making Lord Of The Flies into LEFT, the musical, we immediately thought of using the interval called a tritone — musical notes that are three “whole tones” apart, which create a dissonance that can evoke unease in music. In the 12th century, possibly earlier, the tritone was dubbed “diabolus in musica” (the devil in music), and its use has historically been frowned upon in liturgical music, which generally relies on unison and harmony…

From the first two notes of the overture to the end of the piece, the so called “devil’s interval” is sprinkled throughout the music of LEFT, underscoring the characters’ fate of facing their own demons.”

Can you hear the tritone notes in this promo theme song?
