SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Hannah Dorsey scored 17 points and Ali McDaniel added 11 as the St. Francis freshman basketball team won the Robby Nakamura Holiday Tournament on Saturday 40-33 over host Kennedy.

“It felt really good because we all pulled together as a team to win,” said McDaniel. “We worked together and really played hard for the win.”

The Troubadours (3-0) took the lead for good in the third quarter after the game was tied at 22 and then held off a late rally by the Warriors. Dorsey drove to the basket on three consecutive possessions, drawing fouls and adding to the advantage at the line.

“I was trying to (help us) get the lead,” said Dorsey. “Our outside shots were not really falling. We needed to drive.”

St. Francis also defeated Inderkum and West Campus during the tournament.

“I think this will help us in the future and it really boosted our confidence,” said Dorsey. We dug deep (in the second half) and pushed through it.”

Kat Dowdell added six points, while Andralee Harmon chipped in four and Tara Keene scored two.

St. Francis will play Kennedy again on Tuesday in the first home game of the season at 4 p.m. The JV will follow at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity game set for 7:00 p.m.
