RACHO CORDOVA, Calif. – Senior Sarah Westover scored seven times and added three assists as St. Francis defeated Christian Brothers 19-3 in the annual Holy Stix matchup.

“It was a total team effort from the goalie to our lowest attacker,” said Head Coach Julia Southard. “The team was hyped before the game. It is always a big game with Christian Brothers and I kept saying let’s be the better team in Sacramento. I think we proved that tonight.”

Westover led a strong offensive explosion for the Troubadours, who controlled the game from the start. Jade Borg added five goals, while Nikki Morrisette contributed two goals. SF added single goals by Rachel Wick, Emily Bush, Juliette Vielhauer and Grace Passantino.

“I think it will be a long time before St. Francis sees another player like Sarah Westover,” said Southard. “She embodies what a true athlete is. She practices extra hours each week and loves this game. She is a true competitor and a great competitor. I am proud of how she capped off her regular season career.”

With the win, St. Francis eliminated Christian Brothers and earned a spot in the Sacramento Valley Lacorsse League playoffs.

“We just want to battle with everything we do,” said Southard. “Going into conference playoffs with this win gives us more confidence. With confidence anyone can be dangerous.”

It was the final home game for the seniors in their careers.

“It feels amazing,” said Avery Myers. “Last year we won in overtime so it was a really good feeling winning. It really felt the whole team came together which is amazing going into the playoffs. We had nothing to lose and it was the last game,” said Myers. “It sparked the team and we just came out and won it.”

St. Francis will play at Oak Ridge in the league semifinals.
