SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis Head Basketball Coach Vic Pitton was named the coach of the South team for the upcoming Optimist All-Star game on Saturday, April 8.

“It is certainly a privilege and an honor to coach such dedicated athletes,” said Pitton, who won his 300th career game this season and led the Troubies to the NorCal quarterfinals.

Pitton, who also coached the team in 2015, will coach a group including seniors from St. Francis, Elk Grove, McClatchy, West Campus and Vanden among others.

“We have a lot of talent and a lot of experience in big games,” said Pitton. “All of them have played in state championship games and to have that talent is really enjoyable.”

St. Francis will be represented by Julia Razo and Janae Fairbrook.

“The opportunity to coach Julia and Janae again is exciting,” said Pitton. “They have contributed so much to our program. It is great they get some recognition and play at a very high level.”

The game will be played at Rosemont High School at 4 p.m. Pitton replaces Elk Grove’s Larry Price, who was originally scheduled to coach the team.
