SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Savannah Tijerino-Santos scored the lone goal for the Troubadours in a 1-1 tie with Pleasant Grove on Thursday at Granite Regional Park.

“We worked really well and the intensity was there,” said Tijerino-Santos, who scored her third goal of the season. “We were pressing them and did everything we could do. I am proud of my team.”

The Troubadours scored first with the Tijerino-Santos goal off an assist by senior Arianna Avila. The Eagles tied the score later in the half.

“I am pleased with the team effort,” said Head Coach Maryclaire Robinson. “That was the focus how well we could cover the field in white. We knew it was going to be a physical game and I am pleased with the toughness, team defense and team offense.”

St. Francis (5-2-3) and Pleasant Grove played a scoreless second half but the Troubies had several opportunities to win the game. Senior Kaitlyn Hendrickson had eight saves in the contest.

“We had plenty of chances to win it but I am really pleased,” said Robinson. “We moved people around with a few at ODP and Retreat and we have a few dinged up with injuries. We managed and we created great chances to score and pressed them.  We had some great combination play in the attacking third. It did not today but it will create some goals for us.”

St. Francis returns to action on Tuesday for a match-up with league rival Davis.

“Davis is always tough so it was nice to get a couple games under our belt,” said Robinson.

The game starts at 3:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on TroubieTV.
