Tennis Gets Win over Ponderosa

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Perneet Powar recorded a straight set victory over Paige Bergin to help St. Francis post an 8-1 victory over Ponderosa Thursday. The Troubadours improved to 6-2 on the season.

Powar won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 3 singles as the Troubadours swept all six singles matches. St. Francis also got wins from Avery Spector at No. 1, Kendall Spector at No. 2 and Eden Elliott at No. 4. Antonia Gianulias and Marcela Sosa also won their matches in straight sets.

St. Francis also got victories at the top two doubles spots with wins by Martina Penalosa and Christina Marengo at No. 1 and Micah Dial and Abby Benvenuti at No. 2.

St. Francis returns to action next week, hosting Folsom on Oct. 22 at Rio del Oro Racquet Club.
