2015 Soccer Highlights

  • St. Francis was ranked No. 5 in the state and No. 52 in the nation according to MaxPreps High School Soccer Poll. SF was also ranked No. 4 in Region 5 and No. 20 in the nation in the final NSCAA poll.
  • St. Francis advanced to the Sac-Joaquin Section championship for the second straight season before falling to Franklin. The Troubadours defeated No. 1 seed and overall state-ranked No. 1 Davis 1-0 in the semifinals. They added wins over Armijo and Woodcreek to advance in the bracket.
  • The Troubadours finished with a 19-3-2 overall record under Interim Head Coach Maryclaire Robinson, an ‘86 alumna, and posted a 10-2-2 mark in league play. Overall, they out-scored their opponents 80-15 on the season, while posting 17 shutouts and winning the season-opening Cal Spring Classic in Woodland.
  • Senior Anna Gregg was named the Player of the Year in the Delta League, earning league player of the year for second straight season. She helped St. Francis to a third-place finish and runner-up section finish. She was also named the River Cats Girls Soccer Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Gregg led the Delta League with 32 goals (T54 in nation) in 2015 with a league-best 72 points (T65 in nation). She also recorded eight assists, the second-best total in the league.
  • Junior forward Hailey Barrett and senior midfielder Rachel Schaefer joined Gregg on the Delta All-League first team. Senior Serena Ramos received the Delta League Sportsmanship Award.
  • Schaefer was named the Defensive MVP for the second consecutive season, while Gregg was the Offensive MVP and Cornerstone winner. Barrett received the Iron Woman Award after scoring eight goals with eight assists, the second-best totals on the team, for 24 points, the fifth-best total in the league.
  • Twenty-one players scored at least one goal, while 13 players made two more during the season.
  • Five seniors signed to play collegiately including Gregg , Colorado College; Catie Brown, Southern Methodist University; Allie Carmickle, UC Davis; Izzy Chelini, Cal Lutheran; Madison Kimball, Loyola Chicago and Addie Wallace, Villanova.
  • The St. Francis Girls’ Team was recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) with the 2014-15 High School Team Academic Award. The team had a 3.61 combined grade point average last spring.
