2016 Swimming Highlights

  • Senior Emily Peters qualified for the CIF State Championships in the 50 free for the second consecutive season. She clocked a time of 24.25 to finish 25th in the 50-meter freestyle Friday at the Clovis Olympic Swim Complex.  She entered the meet seeded 34th with a seed time of 24.23 and was 22nd overall as a junior.
  • St. Francis placed fourth overall in the varsity meet at the Sac-Joaquin Section Swimming Championships held at Tokay High School. The St. Francis swimming team advanced six swimmers in a combined six events and all three relays at the Sac-Joaquin Section Swimming Championships.

  • St. Francis, the defending league champion, scored 582.5 points to fall 15 points short of team champion Davis (597). Franklin was third overall followed by Pleasant Grove and Monterey Trail.
  • Three swimmers signed to compete in college next fall, including Emily Peters (Cal Poly), Katie McIntee (San Jose State), Chloe Mitchell (Fordham) and McKenna Peterson (St. Catherine).
  • The varsity swimming honorees for most valuable swimmer included Chloe Mitchell, Katie McIntee, Emily Peters and Tatum Roepke. The junior varsity selections for most valuable swimmer were Emily Bartyla, Audrey Camarillo, Lennea Castro and Hannah Parulan. Head Coach Richard Levin also recognized Katherine Sheahon with Most Improved, Amaya Barnes was received the Spirit Award and Laila Akhavi received the Delta League Sportsmanship Award.
