Swimming and Diving Finishes Fourth at Section Finals

LODI, Calif. – The St. Francis swimming and diving team finished fourth at the Sac-Joaquin Section Championships on Saturday at Tokay High School.

“Today was a good day,” said Head Coach Richard Levin. “Coming into this season, I didn’t think we would be able to get fourth. I knew we were in a fight against Rio (for third) starting today. We ended up 10 points behind but I could not be prouder. It is bittersweet because this senior class has a lot of kids I am going to miss. It is sad to see them be done.”

Swimming Advances Six at Section Finals on Saturday

LODI, Calif. – The St. Francis swimming team advanced six swimmers in a combined six events and all three relays at the Sac-Joaquin Section Swimming Championships at Tokay High School. The finals will be contested on Saturday starting at 10 a.m.

Senior Chloe Mitchell had the top finish on the day, placing fourth in the 500 free with a time of 5:01.60. She also qualified in the 200 free (1:52.84). Katie McIntee was fifth in the 100 free and ninth in the 200 free, while classmate Emily Peters finished fifth in the 50 free (24.49).

Swimming and Diving Finishes Second at League Meet

CARMICHAEL, Calif. – The St. Francis varsity swimming and diving team finished second overall at the Delta League Championships on Friday at Jesuit High School.

“We did not go quiet,” said Head Coach Richard Levin. “We knew we had a challenge in front of us. They did not quit. Davis is a great team and our hats our off to them. We just needed a little more to get it done. We could taste it but we came up a little short this time.”

Swimming Leads after Day 1 at Delta League Meet

CARMICHAEL, Calif. – Aided by a strong performance by the Diving team, the St. Francis swimming team got off to a great start at the Delta League Swimming Trials at Jesuit High School Thursday.

“We needed some work done today and we got the job started,” said Head Coach Richard Levin. “Davis is a great competitor and competition. It is going to be a tough challenge tomorrow. But I think we are setup to compete for the win.”

St. Francis leads Davis by 34 points heading into the finals on Friday, which begin at 3:00 p.m.

2016 St. Francis Spring Signing Day

Seven student-athletes have signed or committed to plays sports at collegiate programs across the nation in conjunction with the third NCAA National Signing Day. Overall, St. Francis has 25 student-athletes from the class of 2016 playing sports in college this fall.

Senior Peterson to Swim at St. Catherine in Minnesota

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior McKenna Peterson will swim at St. Catherine University in St. Paul, Minn., next fall. She will participate in the St. Francis Signing Day Celebration on Wednesday, April 13.

“I was exploring my options to see what was out there and found St. Catherine,” said Peterson. “I reached out to the coach and went to visit. They had everything I was looking for (in a school). It is the perfect fit for me.”

Swimming Wins League Meet with Franklin and Sheldon

CARMICHAEL, Calif. – The St. Francis swimming team won eight of the 10 events led by several strong individual performances in preparation for the NorCal Championships this weekend.

“This was a meet where we needed to show up and we took care of business,” said Head Coach Richard Levin.

Sophomore Emily Bartylla won the 100-yard breaststroke ( (1:14.26) and finished second in the 50 freestyle (26.81) while participating on the winning 200-yard medley relay  with Caroline Urkov, Emily Peters and Audrey Camarillo and second-place 400-yard free relay.

Swimming Defeated by Davis in Dual Meet

CARMICHAEL, Calif. – A year ago, they were the top two programs in the Delta League with St. Francis winning the league title. The two schools met again Wednesday with Davis taking a 107-63 victory in the varsity meet and 107-60 win in the Frosh-Soph matchup.

“We have a long way to go,” said Head Coach Richard Levin. “Davis is a perennial powerhouse and they showed their stuff. Our senior and junior leadership all showed up today and we had some young swimmers standout.”

Spring Conditioning/Tryout Information

Spring sports start on Feb. 8 for the sports of lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving and track and field. Please have your daughter’s current physical on file with the athletic department to insure her participation in the first day of tryouts. The physical must be on the form on the school website. You can find it here.

DIVING: Practice starts on February 15: 3:00-4:30 p.m. at Capital Diving. Workouts the rest of the season (2/22-4/27) will be M/W/F from 3:30-5:00 p.m.

Swimmer Chloe Mitchell to Swim at Fordham

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – When it came time to select her school for college, St. Francis senior swimmer Chloe Mitchell had a good idea of the atmosphere and environment she was looking for in a program. After taking three visits, Mitchell chose to swim for Fordham next fall.

“Fordham felt more like home,” said Mitchell, who is from El Dorado Hills. “It is a Jesuit school and I love the Catholic atmosphere. The team felt like family and that the men and women practice together and are really close. It was another big part of my decision.”

Swimmer Katie McIntee Commits to San Jose State

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis swimmer Katie McIntee has made a verbal commitment to swim next fall at San Jose State and will sign a National Letter-of-Intent with the Spartans on Nov. 11.

“I chose San Jose State because I really liked the coach and the girls,” said McIntee. “After taking my trip, I felt very comfortable. The girls helped me feel right at home and already part of the team.”

2015 Swimming Highlights

  • Juniors Emily Peters and Chloe Mitchell both qualified for the first CIF State Championships and the St. Francis swimming team placed fourth overall in the varsity meet at the Sac-Joaquin Section Swimming Championships held at Tokay High School.
  • Peters swam in the 50-meter freestyle and clocked a time of 24.24 to finish 22nd overall.
  • Peters qualified to swim at the first CIF state championships in the 50 freestyle after her sixth-place finish in time of 24.29.
