Academic Teams
St. Francis's Academic teams challenge Troubies to think critically, compete at the highest levels, and apply classroom knowledge to real-world academic competitions. These teams provide opportunities for students to delve deeper into subjects they're passionate about—from the classics and mathematics to speech and cutting-edge technology—while representing St. Francis at regional, state, and national competitions. For team captains and leaders, academic teams offer invaluable experience in strategic planning, mentoring teammates, managing competition preparation, and fostering a collaborative spirit under pressure. Whether analyzing complex problems, debating global issues, building innovative solutions, or mastering ancient languages, academic teams empower students to push their intellectual boundaries, develop perseverance and teamwork, and achieve excellence in a supportive environment that celebrates both individual growth and collective achievement.
Academic teams at SFHS are offered to students who seek an intellectual challenge, personal growth, and the benefits of team membership. Most teams are one year courses earning two-credits. Attendance, participation in team events, positive attitude and support for team members are used for student assessment. Some teams hold try-outs and/or require applications. For all others, students may sign up in August.
