SACRAMENTO – The Most Reverend Jaime Soto, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sacramento, announced today that he has appointed Theresa Rodgers, president and CEO of St. Francis Catholic High School. Rodgers, currently serving as the interim president of St. Francis Catholic High School, will assume her post effective immediately.

“As the largest school of the Diocese, St. Francis Catholic High School helps anchor our educational mission: forming young women who know their faith and serve as the leaven of Christ in society,” said Bishop Soto. “I am pleased with Theresa’s vision for St. Francis, and her strong personal model and witness she offers our young women.”

“I am humbled and honored by this opportunity to serve the Church,” said Rodgers. “I love the young women, this community, and the mission of St. Francis Catholic High School.”

“As president, I will continue the work we have started – to make St. Francis a truly Catholic community, one that embraces all young women who seek a quality Catholic education, working with families to help mold their daughters into the holy women God is calling them to be,” said Rodgers.

Rodgers has served as principal of St. Francis Catholic High School since 2013, and as interim president and CEO since June of this year. She holds a Masters of Arts in Education and an administrative credential from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Journalism from the University of La Verne.  Rodgers brings a wealth of experience in education, having served as assistant principal of Dublin High School, Vice Principal of Clayton Valley High School, and a classroom teacher, including mission work in American Samoa.

Bishop Soto’s search committee advanced Rodgers’ nomination to Bishop Soto following a national search and rigorous interview process, which included input and review by faculty and staff, community stakeholders, and the Board of Trustees.  As president, Rodgers will report to the Board of Trustees, which serves Bishop Soto in monitoring the school’s work in advancing its mission of forming young women as servant-leaders in Christ.

Now in its seventy-sixth year, St. Francis Catholic High School is the largest all-girls Catholic high school west of the Mississippi, with more than 1,000 students in grades 9-12.  Academically rigorous, with full accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, St. Francis Catholic High School draws students from over 50 schools in the Sacramento region.  In 2016, 100 percent of the graduating class was accepted to a college or university.  Founded in 1940, more than 9,000 young women have graduated from St. Francis Catholic High School, which is owned and operated by the Diocese of Sacramento.
