Dear St. Francis Families,

I am writing to you this evening to provide an update on today’s events and what we’re anticipating the rest of the week.

But first, I want to acknowledge how incredibly upsetting this is for everyone.  The wellness of our families is important and can be difficult to achieve, especially in a time when we’ve had to isolate ourselves.  I am including a Wellness Resource that shares strategies to deal with racial stress and how to practice self-care.  It is my prayer that you find it helpful.

Racial Stress and Self-Care

Today’s planned protest did not happen.  We’ve been in communication with the Diocesan Security Coordinator, who is in contact with the Sacramento Police Department.  Based on information he’s received and what we’ve seen on social media, it appears the organizers plan to join tomorrow’s protest, now scheduled for Noon. We are expecting several non-St. Francis students to participate.

This  complicates matters further as we are still in a pandemic and the mixing of cohorts may require a mandatory quarantine.  Since we do not know the size and scope of Wednesday’s protest we don’t believe it is safe to open up the campus for our weekly cohort COVID screening.  Due to this change, we will remain in Distance Learning for the remainder of the week.

I will continue to update you as I have more information.

Please pray for our Lord’s healing and mercy in all of this.

St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us!
St. Clare of Assisi, pray for us!

In the spirit of Pax et Bonum (peace and goodness),
