Dear St. Francis Families,

I am writing to you this evening to provide an update on today’s events and our plan for the rest of the week.

First, today’s protest regarding our recent racial incident included members and non-members of the St. Francis Community. We are grateful that it remained peaceful. Secondly, we feel it is appropriate to share that, as of this morning, the student who appeared in the photo is no longer enrolled at the school.  While there is still more work to be done and conversations to be had, St. Francis will continue to honor the commitment we made to create change within our community through our Racial Reconciliation Plan. Our goal is to bring healing to our students and families of color and education to our entire community.

As a reminder, we will remain in Distance Learning for the remainder of the week. Since we did not know the size and scope of today’s protest, we cancelled our weekly cohort screening that usually takes place on Wednesday afternoon.

Our hope is to have the Red Cohort  screened on Sunday at the usual time. I will update you with details when they are available.

Please pray for our Lord’s healing and mercy for our community.

St. Francis of Assisi, pray for us!
St. Clare of Assisi, pray for us!

In the spirit of Pax et Bonum (peace and goodness),

Elias Mendoza
