Dear St. Francis Families,

I wanted to make you aware that yesterday, late in the afternoon, as a small group of our Cross Country athletes were running back onto Elvas Avenue from Sac State, they reported seeing a man in a vehicle who pulled over, and exposed himself to them. The students left the area, and they reported the incident to Administration. The Sacramento Police Department and Sacramento State Campus Police were notified, and they responded to the area.  The students did an excellent job of staying together, getting to safety, and reporting the incident immediately.

While these instances are extremely rare, they are always unsettling. St. Francis Catholic High School and the surrounding area is very safe. However, it is important to be alert, be prepared, and report anything suspicious immediately to the nearest adult or authorities.  At this time, the man has not been located, but Sacramento Police Department and Sacramento State Campus Police are aware. The following description has been shared with all of our students and faculty as a precaution.

Description: Hispanic male, 30’s, black shirt, black bandanna, short hair, in a dark, small 4-door sedan (possibly a Corolla) with tinted windows.

If your daughter stays after-school, and she is not affiliated with an extra-curricular activity, encourage her to wait for you inside the Rec Room until you arrive. If she has your permission to walk to Starbucks located at Folsom & 65th, encourage her travel in pairs.

Please know the safety and well-being of our students is paramount, and we’ll continue to be vigilant when matters like these arise.

St. Francis of Assisi pray for us!

Pax et Bonum (peace and goodness),

Elias Mendoza
