Dear St. Francis Families,
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday next week, it’s important to pause and reflect on the many blessings we have in our lives. Sometimes we take for granted all that we have, and we don’t appreciate those things we cherish the most until they are gone.
Given the devastation caused by the Camp Fire, I think it is an opportune time to take stock of our many blessings. Let us express our gratitude to our family members, friends, neighbors, or those silent contributors that support us each and every day.
As an acknowledgement of our patron saint, and the life of humility and service he led, remember that our gratitude should be expressed in more than just words. It should be demonstrated by our actions and the life we live.
On this Friday afternoon, as we think of those affected by the tragic fires, I invite you to read and reflect on the Prayer of St. Francis.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
St. Francis of Assisi pray for us!
Pax et Bonum (peace and goodness),
