SFHS Parent Webinar on COVID Screening (10/22/20)
For those who missed the Webinar, HERE is a link to watch it.
Dear St. Francis Families,
As we continue to make final preparations for our return to campus, a day we’ve all been looking forward to, I want to provide you with some important information.
First, this afternoon, I will be hosting a parent informational meeting to discuss weekly COVID screening for all students, faculty, and staff, as well as our partnership with a local area physician, Dr. Rusty Oshita, who will be discussing the screening process and how it will be shared with a smartphone/Chromebook application called Immunify.
The parent webinar is scheduled for this afternoon:
- Thursday, October 22nd
- 5:00 to 6:00 p.m.
- Use this link to join the meeting.
During the webinar, you are going to hear directly from Dr. Oshita and his colleagues on the COVID screening process and how the results will be communicated to the parent/student via the Immunify App. For more information on Immunify, you may reference their Immunify website.
In order for students to be on campus, they must download the Immunify application, participate in testing, and self-check for symptoms daily. For students that don’t have a smartphone, they will be able to download the application onto their Chromebook once you have created an account on a phone for authentication. A comprehensive “how-to guide” is linked and includes our school code: SFHS2020.
The Immunify App does NOT share any private or sensitive health information. The application has an embedded COVID self-screening feature that all students, faculty, and staff will have to complete every day before coming to school. By combining our COVID safety measures, face coverings, physical distancing, and proactive screening of every student, faculty, and staff member, we are reducing the risk of a potential COVID outbreak.
The weekly COVID screening process will begin tomorrow, Friday, October 23rd for all freshmen and sophomore classes from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. The screening will be conducted on-campus adjacent to the Armory, as a drive-through. The student (or her parent) can make an appointment via the Urgent Care Now website. This is an easy process and a confirmation text will be sent to the user confirming the scheduled appointment. On Monday, October 26th, the juniors and seniors will be screened from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. There are no fees associated with COVID screening, as the cost will be covered by CARES Act funding. As a reminder, any student planning to be on campus next week must be screened in order to participate.
In order to get screened, the student needs to be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian, and bring the following items on your screening day/time: (A copy will be made at the screening station)
- Medical ID card (i.e. Kaiser, Blue Shield, etc. medical card)
- CA driver’s license
- Waiver, release, and health information forms Download PDF:
I realize this is a lot of information and that you may have additional questions in the coming days. I will continue to provide you updates with more specific information as we begin our phased return to school plan.
I look forward to seeing you on the webinar this evening.
