Updates for Seniors and Families

Email blast

Greetings Seniors and Senior Families!

Happy Thursday! We are looking forward to seeing our seniors on campus tomorrow for the Pearl Pick-Up Parade (and I imagine there may be some parents in the cars as well). This will be a festive, albeit unusual, way to receive their cap and gown. Seniors, remember to have your last name on a sheet of paper on your dash. Also, enjoy the Arts Recognition e-Ceremony at 8:00am tomorrow and see where your fellow Pearls are going to continue their arts education.

A big shout out to the SBO team for the heart-felt video they sent out to the faculty, staff and students this week. Grab a tissue, you’ll need it! Thank you for reminding us of how lucky we are to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.

Here is some new information about some other end-of-year events that are getting firmed up:

Seniors: Senior Sunset will be on Thursday, May 28. The event will be on campus drive-in theater style! Save-the-date now and more details will be sent out next week.

The Baccalaureate Mass for the St. Francis Catholic High School Class of 2020 is scheduledfor July 22 at 8:00am and Graduation is scheduled for July 23 at 8:00am. Both will be held on the St. Francis campus.  More details will follow as we get closer to the date. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Although our options remain limited until social distancing practices change and public health officials lift orders currently in place, we are working to create meaningful experiences that honor the hard work and accomplishments of your daughters. All of these “reimagined” plans are dependent on the mandates of federal/state and public health officials and the safety of our students, families and the school community.

Expect to receive another email update from us next week with additional information. Remember, all information and communications sent about senior events is available at www.stfrancishs.org/seniors. Please bookmark this page and use it as your “homebase” for senior happenings!

New Mass! Bishop Soto will preside at a live-streamed Mass in honor and celebration of ALL graduates from the Class of 2020 on Sunday, May 17 at 5:00pm from the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament. This Mass will include student representatives from each of the Catholic High School Communities in our Diocese participating in the appropriate liturgical ministries. We will share the link to participate in the Mass when it becomes available.

Please help us collect important college and scholarship data!

On April 21, your daughters were emailed the College Admission Decisions Form that allowed them to report their college admissions decisions. Traditionally, we would ask the students to list all of this information in Naviance, but we wanted to relieve them of that responsibility, so we offered to collect the information in a google form and we would put it into Naviance for them.

Additionally, last week, they were emailed the Scholarships and Grants Form that allowed them to report all of their college, university, and outside organization scholarships and grants from all of the schools to which they applied. This is the information we print in the Senior Awards Ceremony program and Graduation program. We asked for the full title of the scholarship as well as the amount of money offered to your daughter. (This dollar amount is not shared with anyone. It’s simply used to come up with a total dollar amount that was offered to the Class of 2020 as a group).

Finally, we are asking seniors to complete the  College of Choice Form that allows them to list the school they are choosing to attend. This is where we will send their final transcript when it is available in mid-June.

Please help us collect this important data. Ask your daughter if she has completed these google forms, and encourage her to do so if she hasn’t completed them yet. We don’t want anyone’s name left out of the Senior Awards Ceremony or Graduation programs if they have received a scholarship or grant from any of the colleges to which they applied (not just the college they will be attending).

Feel free to contact Debbie Austin daustin@stfrancishs.org if you need help or have any questions.

Important Reminders for Seniors

Please complete the Google Form for your Baccalaureate Mass Symbol. The link was sent out by Campus Ministry yesterday. Select a symbol representative of your time here at St. Francis to bring up during the Baccalaureate Mass Procession.

Also, if you have not yet submitted the form for Senior Superlatives, please do so by Monday.

Keep up with us on Facebook and Instagram!

Faculty and staff are still sending in video messages for all of you! We don’t want you to miss out on these funny and heartwarming messages.
