Updates for Seniors and Families
May 28, 2020
Greetings Seniors and Senior Families!
On what would have been your graduation day, I speak on behalf of the entire faculty and staff when I say congratulations on your four years of achievements. In a couple short hours, seniors will drive their cars on to the St. Francis soccer field to spend the evening together for Senior Sunset. Even though the sun is setting on the Class of 2020 tonight, you will always be our Pearls! (Don’t forget to bring water with you!)
I hope you all were able to “tune in” for our Senior Awards Ceremony last Friday. We are honored to recognize ALL of you and your achievements. God has created each of us with unique gifts and talents that will change the world. If you missed it, click here to see the video. Congratulations to all of our senior award winners! Don’t miss the special congratulatory messages from Eleni Kounalakis ’85, Lieutenant Governor of California, and Valorie Burton, 2019 SELFe speaker, and some of our own cherished staffulty: Mark McGreevy, Naomi Lee, Debbie Austin, Nora Anderson, and MaryAnne Kelly.
Relive your four years!
Senior Sequester is when the graduating class is formally welcomed into the 11,000-strong SFHS Alumnae Community. We begin that ceremony with a surprise video look back on your four years at St. Francis Catholic High School. It seems only appropriate that we would share this video with you today, on what would have been your graduation day. Enjoy the memories and know that you have forever impacted the St. Francis community and will be dearly missed. Click here to see the video.
The alumnae community will also be giving you a little gift at Senior Sunset tonight to remind you to carry St. Francis in your heart wherever life takes you. See you tonight!
A special thank you to Raquel Namba, Steve Shaff, Camryn Smith ’20, Noelani Kinion ’21, and Greg Lane from Lifetouch for all their photos and work on the video.
The Class of 2020 is on the big screen at Golden1 Center!
A special SFHS Class of 2020 congratulatory message is now showing on the outdoor screens at the Golden1 Center. Stop by for a photo before or after Senior Sunset; the photo will only be up through midday Saturday, May 30th. See it here on our Facebook page!
Dance Showcase 2020! A performance for our times.
Check out the Dance Showcase 2020! These ladies didn’t need a stage to perform. See how our SFHS dancers used garages, bedrooms, living rooms, backyards and driveways to showcase their talents. The amount of creativity and collaboration that the students had this year was exciting and spoke to the time we are living through!
Each year, Junior and Senior choreographers create works that are showcased in a live performance. Due to the unprecedented situation that prevented our dancers from performing & audiences from watching this event live, Agata Grzelak, our Dance Instructor, compiled videos of student works to share with you. We hope you enjoy it!
Congratulations to the graduating seniors featured: Gigi Brida, Fiona Galvin, and Marie Simonian.
The Class of 2020 Grad Swag order form is now live! Whether you want something to remember your time at St. Francis or an official Alumnae item, you’ll find plenty to tempt you as you embark on your next journey. Limited quantities are available and the form closes on June 7th at 11:00pm, so order now!
Curbside merchandise pickup will be June 11th & 12th, 2020 – 11:00am – 1:00pm. Please contact Mirjana Nikcevic, email@example.com with any questions.
SFHS LOVE LOCKS
Looking for a way to honor your daughter and leave her mark on the St. Francis campus? Introduced last year was the addition of commemorative Love Locks. All locks are customized to recognize your Troubie. Commemorative locks can be purchased HERE. We will be dedicating the St. Francis Love Locks and hanging them on the new fencing surrounding our Canticle Garden before the Homecoming Rally on November 8th. Don’t miss your chance to “Leave Your Heart at SF!” Purchase HERE.
Senior Parking Spots
Seniors DO NOT need to paint over their parking spaces in the student lot. One more thing to check off the list!
Textbook Buy Backs
BNC (Formally MBS) will still be buying back textbooks from our students. Families can sell their books through the BNC website and use a free shipping label to return their books. The SFHS Website has step-by-step instructions on how to sell back books. Once a Buyback quote is created, the books must be mailed back to BNC within two weeks. To avoid forfeiting Guaranteed Buyback values, only create a quote for books you physically have in your possession.
The 2019-2020 yearbooks are scheduled to be shipped to St. Francis in June. Once they arrive, a date will be set for students to receive them. More details will be shared in upcoming Senior email communications.
Don’t miss the “Pearl Spotlight” on Facebook and Instagram. From now until graduation, we will be sharing a little about our Seniors. Pearl Spotlights will be in no particular order, so keep checking back to see who will be next. If you miss any, you can always view here on the Senior page of the website. #graduatingwomenwhochangetheworld #classof2020 #seniorspotlight2020 #SFHS2020Pearls
