S1 Christian Service Hours Due

Ministry Stephanie Villanueva '98

The next Christian Service hour deadline is 9:00am on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

Cumulative minimum requirements for this year (beginning June 1, 2022) are:

  • Freshmen: 6+ total hours
  • Sophomores: 10+ total hours
  • Juniors: 14+ total hours
  • Seniors: 20+ total hours

Hours must be logged and verified (by signature, picture, or email) to be approved.

The best ways to find service opportunities…

  • Read “Service Opp” emails from Ms. Villanueva
  • Talk to friends who are already volunteering at a nonprofit service organization
  • Use existing connections (i.e., Girl Scouts, your Church or faith community, previous school, or other direct nonprofit organizations)
  • Use the Approved Organizations list
  • Check out the “Opportunities” tab in MobileServe

Listed below are some reminders regarding Christian Service:

  • Remember to get a form of verification: picture, signature, or correct email address of the supervisor. A picture of yourself at the organization/event is a great safety form of verification.
  • Completely fill out your time log– especially check the dates and tell me where you worked!
  • If your hours are pending for more than a week, there’s usually something wrong
  • You are required to use the MobileServe account assigned to you (it’s associated with your SF email address)
  • Volunteer time towards your service requirements must be done with and organized through a nonprofit organization. Work done for individuals, family members, or small businesses does not qualify.
  • Fundraising for or donating to a nonprofit organization is important but this type of support does not meet the direct service and on-site requirements of our program. This also includes serving at fundraising galas, dinners, and crab-feed-type events.
  • Volunteering for any political campaign or candidate is not eligible for credit.
  • Multiple or duplicate entries will be “rejected.” If you hit submit multiple times, multiple time logs show up for me to approve. If you notice multiple entries and/or rejections in your record, you are free to delete them.
