Athletics Spring Update
The following information breaks down where we are for all of our sports. Please remember, to be eligible for any sport participation at St. Francis High School, you must complete your registration on FinalForms, have a current physical on file with the Athletic Department, perform a COVID test weekly, and complete your daily symptom screener. You can be a distance learner, and participate in sports if you follow the above guidelines. Basketball – Currently outdoor conditioning at St. Ignatius. If you would like more information, please contact Head Varsity Coach, David Carmichael, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Tryouts are scheduled to begin April 12th with the season scheduled to begin May 3rd, but please remember, indoor sports are not allowed to begin competition until the county is in the Yellow Tier. Registration on final forms has been closed, but if you would like to add this sport, please contact Athletics.
Cross Country – Currently in season and registration is closed. Schedules can be found HERE.
Dive – Season will begin March 8th at Capital Diver pool complex in Rio Linda. Dive parent meeting will be held on March 2nd. Zoom link will be sent out to registered athletes and their families on FinalForms. If you have any questions regarding registration, please email Assistant AD, Kelly Ketcham at email@example.com. Golf – Currently in season registration is closed. Schedules can be found HERE.
Lacrosse – Season will begin on March 15th at Mather Sports Complex. Our sport interest meeting will be held via Zoom on Wednesday, March 3rd at 3:00 p.m. for students interested in trying out. We will be sending out a Zoom link to those who are registered on FinalForms. If you have any questions regarding Lacrosse, please contact Head Lacrosse Coach, Julia Southard at email@example.com. The county must be in the Red Tier for athletes to compete. We will remain in Red/Gold cohorts to train while in the Purple Tier.
Soccer – Tryouts are scheduled to begin March 22nd at Granite Regional Park. Please make sure your FinalForms registration is complete, and your sport physical has been turned into the Athletic Department. More specific information will be sent out to those registered for soccer on FinalForms. For more information, please contact Varsity Head Coach, Maryclaire Robinson at firstname.lastname@example.org. There are some rules in place to allow soccer to compete, but we will train in our Red/Gold cohorts until the county moves into the Red Tier.
Softball – Tryouts for Softball have been postponed until Thursday, March 4th. Please get tested with your proper cohort (Red on Sunday / Gold on Wedesday) if possible, but all students will need COVID test clearance to be eligible to try out on Thursday. Registration is closed for Softball on FinalForms. If you are not registered but would like to try out, please contact Assistant AD, Kelly Ketcham at email@example.com. The county must be in the Red Tier for athletes to compete. We will remain in Red/Gold cohorts to train while in the Purple Tier. Swimming – Time trials are currently being held. Due to COVID-19, our pool time has been drastically reduced, and it is difficult to carry the number of swimmers we have carried in the past. Registration for the swim team is currently closed. The parent meeting will be held on March 2nd. A Zoom link will be sent out to registered athletes and their families on FinalForms. Track & Field – Coach Cleland just sent out a message via FinalForms to those registered for Track and Field Wednesday night. If you are interested in participating but did not receive that message, please check the sports you are registering for on FinalForms. The Track & Field season is scheduled to begin March 22nd. Practices and home competitions will be held at Jesuit High School. If you would like more information, please contact Head Varsity Coach, Melanie Cleland at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Volleyball – The season is scheduled to begin April 5th (during spring break). More information will be released closer to the start date. Please remember indoor sports are not allowed to begin competition until the county is in the Yellow Tier. If you are currently participating in a club sport and want to receive credit for PE, please complete this form and return it to Assistant AD, Kelly Ketcham. You will be allowed to participate in both club and high school volleyball this year, but we just don’t know when high school will be allowed to participate. You will only be allowed to receive credit for one (1) PE course per semester. If you end up playing for St. Francis HS, your waiver will not be needed. Water Polo – The season has been rescheduled by the Delta League and is now slated to begin April 26th with the hope that contests can be conducted under improved public health conditions at that time, as we continue to operate under state public health guidelines for the sport. Please stay tuned in Final Forms for forthcoming announcements as we get closer to the scheduled start date.
