Cheryl Watson attends Screening of Greta Gerwig’s ‘02 “Lady Bird”
St. Francis Performing Arts Department Chair, Cheryl Watson, enjoyed a special screening of Greta Gerwig’s ‘02 new film, “Lady Bird,” penned a love letter to Sacramento. Greta tells the story of Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson (played by Saoirse Ronan) during her senior year at Immaculate Heart High School.
“In Lady Bird, I also saw, for the first time in film, a Catholic girls’ school as I remember it-brimming with kindness, weirdness, friendship and rebellion,” noted Gerwig in an interview with America Magazine.
“It’s a fictional story but you can certainly feel the influences of her time at St. Francis. I must say I cried and laughed and was so proud of her work,” Watson quipped. “Lady Bird” opens in theaters on November 10.
