SFHS SPEECH TEAM

Hey Troubies! Do you like public speaking or performing? Are you passionate about politics or global issues?

If you responded “yes!” to any of those questions then YOU should audition for our amazing SF SPEECH TEAM for this year’s 2019-20 season. We welcome all Troubies who love to speak in public or improve their public speaking skills.

To learn more, meet the speech leadership team, learn about the auditions next week, and pick up audition materials, come to the informational meeting today, Thursday, August 22nd at the start of Community Lunch in room 301. Grab your lunch and a friend and join us!

If you have any questions or are unable to attend the meeting, contact our coach, Ms. Hilts (thilts@stfrancishs.org), or captains Lauren Kim (20kim) and Gabriella Frisch (20frisch).

We hope to see you there!

Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad is an academic team of 15 that competes in 23 events. Each team member competes with a partner in 3 events. We spend our year preparing for our regional competition in March. Events include build events such as Gravity Vehicle where a car goes down a ramp and stops on a spot and study events in topics such as circuits, forensics, earth mapping, and fossils. Students get to dive deeper into topics they may have studied in classes and some topics that don’t get taught at the high school level.

Meetings are on Fridays from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. Students are expected to study and work on their build event in between meetings, independently. There is also one required Saturday meeting per semester. Informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 27th, during lunch in Room 343. Our first official meeting is Friday, September 6th, after school. If you have questions, email Mrs.MacDonald at jmacdonald@stfrancishs.org.

Mathletes

Mathletes interest meeting on Wednesday, August 28th in room 320 during lunch. Everyone who likes math, or doesn’t like it yet, but is willing to befriend it, is invited.
