Family Service Hours

Volunteerism is an essential part of supporting the St. Francis Catholic High School community and our students. Family service hours can be earned by parents, step-parents, grandparents, and guardians. We are grateful for the many families who go above and beyond — your dedication allows St. Francis to provide our Troubies a holistic, enriching education grounded in our pillars of faith, excellence, leadership, and service. Service Hour Requirements

The volunteer commitment for the 2025–26 school year is 25 hours per family (for ALL grade levels). Requirements can be completed through a combination of active volunteer service at SFHS events and school-requested donations. A minimum donation value of $30 earns one hour of credit. The requirement for a single parent is reduced to 12.5 hours.

Hours may be earned beginning April 2, 2025 and must be completed by March 23, 2026. Failure to complete your requirement will result in a mandatory $1,000 non-participation fee due on May 1, 2026.

Getting Started

To volunteer on campus, each individual volunteer must complete the following three steps. All steps must be approved by the Diocese before you can volunteer on campus or view opportunities in MVP. Family members cannot "swap" or take each other's place at a scheduled volunteer opportunity.

Have your Fingerprints / LiveScan completed and sent to the Diocese

Bring the SFHS-specific fingerprint form with you when getting fingerprinted. This form ensures results are sent directly to the Diocese. Find a LiveScan location near you →

Complete the Safe Haven online training

Get started with your Safe Haven training now → Email the completion certificate to volunteerhours@stfrancishs.org to have your MVP account updated. This training is only valid for three years.

Already completed fingerprinting or online training for the Diocese of Sacramento? Please submit this Google form and we will contact them to confirm your status. Note: additional qualifications are required to chaperone or drive students to off-campus events.

Tracking Your Hours

Volunteers can check their clearance status by logging in to their MVP account, clicking "My Profile" in the upper right corner, and selecting "Qualifications" from the dropdown menu.

You can also use the Better Impact app to sign up and log hours — search for it in the App Store or Google Play. Note: first-time users must create an account on a desktop computer before using the app.

Volunteer opportunities worked between April 1, 2025 and March 23, 2026 will count toward the 2025–26 school year.

Fingerprinting

Fingerprinting Required for ALL volunteers

Because of California state law and to ensure the safety of our students, St. Francis upholds the diocesan policy that no adult may participate as a volunteer on campus or working directly with students unless the adult has fingerprint clearance on file with the Diocese. Adults who instruct, supervise, drive or chaperone students must obtain fingerprint clearance. SFHS requests that all parents/guardians complete the fingerprinting process early in the school year.

You will need to take this SFHS specific form with you to have your fingerprints done. This form enables the company to send your results directly to the Diocese.

If you have already completed fingerprinting and/or the online training for the Diocese of Sacramento, please submit this google form and we will contact them to confirm your status. Additional qualifications are required to chaperone/drive students to off campus events.

Fingerprints Already on File Within Diocese
You do not need to be fingerprinted for St. Francis High School if you were fingerprinted, at your daughter's Sacramento diocesan elementary or high school, after April 25, 2000. If this applies to you, simply complete the Request for Fingerprinting Records Form and submit it to the St. Francis office. The form is available in the Parent section of the St. Francis website and in the school office.

Note: Please do not contact the Catholic School Department directly. If you are not sure if your fingerprint report is on record with the Diocese or St. Francis, contact the St. Francis High School Dean of Students.

Fingerprints Not on File Within Diocese
You must submit proof of CA Office of the Attorney General Live Scan Fingerprinting to St. Francis High School if you do not have fingerprinting records on file as described above. Previous public or non diocesan private school (or employers) cannot transfer fingerprint records to SFHS or the Diocese.

Chaperone/Driver Information

Required for ALL volunteers who will be chaperoning school events

Volunteer Driver Requirements (Only Required if you are chaperoning a SFHS event)

Submit only if and when requested to do so by SFHS personnel.

Due to liability concerns, Diocesan policy states that parent volunteer hours may not be earned by driving students to activities. All volunteer drivers must comply with the requirements listed below:

● Drivers must comply with all volunteer requirements: Fingerprinting, Safe Haven training, MVP Account, and submission of Driver Information Sheet, copy of driver’s license and insurance declaration page (ID card is not sufficient).

● Drivers must be 25 years of age or older.

● Drivers must have a good driving history and must provide St. Francis High School with a copy of a valid, unrestricted driver’s license. Drivers may be subject to a Motor Vehicle Records check.

● The vehicle must have a valid and current registration and license plates.

● The vehicle must be insured for $100,000 per person/$300,000 per accident limit of liability for bodily injury; $50,000 for property damage; $5,000 per person medical; and $100,000 uninsured motorist insurance.

● The vehicle must be equipped with working seat belts for the driver and every passenger transported. The driver and passenger(s) must use seat belts properly.

● No more than 9 persons, including the driver, may be transported in a private vehicle.

● The driver shall observe all state driving regulations.

● Drivers shall follow route directions, caravan, or other directions issued by the coach, teacher or adult in charge of the group.

● The driver, or a passenger in the vehicle, is encouraged to carry a cell phone and the number of the school in case of an emergency.

● Volunteer Driver Form: Be aware of the check boxes at the bottom of the form. Checking both boxes negates each other, so please only check one of the boxes.
