SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Antelope made 12 three-pointers and used a 14-2 run to start the fourth quarter to pull away from St. Francis 69-55 in a matchup of two of the area’s top teams. The Titans were ranked No. 2 by the Sacramento Bee, while St. Francis was No. 5 in the latest poll.

Titan Nadia Johnson made seven three-pointers for a game-high 21 points, while her teammate A.J. Baylon added 19 and Nia Johnson scored 14.

St. Francis fell behind by double digits in the third quarter but the Troubadours got back in the game at the free throw line, taking advantage of some Titan foul trouble. St. Francis made 11 of 14 at the line in the quarter and trailed just 53-49 entering the fourth. But Antelope (17-0) opened the quarter with a 14-2 run, hitting four three-pointers.

“I thought fatigue was an issue because when we lost Janae our rotation really suffered,” said Head Coach Vic Pitton. “We just were not getting out on their shooters.”

Junior guard Jane Fairbrook left the game in the second quarter and did not return.

Kyra Huffman led St. Francis with 17 points and Julia Razo had a career-high 15 points, including 13 in the first half.

“I thought offensively that was her best half of the season,” said Pitton.

Pitton challenged his team to work on its defense as the Troubadours (13-4, 4-0) return to Delta League play this week.

“We have to be able to play man-to-man defense against these better teams,” said Pitton. “I know we can play some zone and I can mix it up but we have to learn how to play man if we are going to advance far in the playoffs.”

Senior Angie Ortiz added a season-high 10 points. Lauren Craig scored five points and grabbed 19 rebounds and had five blocks.

The Troubadours travel to Franklin for junior varsity and varsity games starting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday
