Basketball to Host Roseville in SJS Division II Playoffs

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis basketball team earned a No. 8 seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs and will host ninth-seeded Roseville on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m.

 

The Troubadours enter with a 17-10 record after tying for the Delta League title with a 12-2 league record. Leading scorer Marlee Nicolos, who led the team with a 14.5 scoring average, is out for the season.


But, the Troubies have the league leaders in three-pointers (Nika Bagatelos, 2.3) and assists (Lauren Pank, 3.4) with several players posting career games this month. Bagatelos totaled a career-high 26 points in a win at Monterey Trail. Mia Fleming-Mullins tallied a career-high 18 points, while Jorie Keitges scored 20 in a game against Antelope, a potential second round opponent. Pank has also averaged 10.5 points a game since Nicolos went down.

Roseville has recorded a 19-8 overall record this season and brings a four-game winning streak into the contest4. The teams have one common opponent in Christian Brothers. The Tigers defeated the Falcons 60-55 back on Dec. 7, while St. Francis defeated Christian Brother 57-51.

The winner of the St. Francis-Roseville contest will play the winner of the game between No. 1 Antelope and No. 16 Lodi. The Troubadours lost to Antelope 69-50 on Feb. 10.
