Basketball Seeded Sixth in the Sac-Joaquin Section Bracket

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis basketball team was awarded a No. 6 seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section playoff bracket announced on Thursday.

The Troubadours defeated Grant on Wednesday 71-32 to claim the Delta League Championship title. The Troubadours improved to 13-1 overall in league play and garnered the No. 1 seed from the league. It is the second consecutive league title for the team and 15th overall in school history.

St. Francis will be making its 14th consecutive postseason appearance and will host No. 11 Cosumnes Oaks at 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolfpack at 19-8 on the season and went 10-4 in the Capital Valley Conference to finish third overall.

The first-round winner will take on the winner from No. 3 Oak Ridge and No. 14 Kennedy. The Troubadours defeated Oak Ridge 88-61 in the SJS semifinals in 2015-16 and went on to win the CIF NorCal Division I title and played in the CIF Division I State Championship game.

The SJS basketball postseason determines playoff teams by qualifying through league standings as well as the top 12 teams by division at the end of the season by MaxPreps rankings. Divisions 1-4 are then split evenly by enrollment. 

Tipoff will be at 7 p.m. at St. Francis. Admission prices are $8 for adults, $ for students and free admission for children (5 and under).
