WOODLAND, Calif. – In the first meeting between Sac-Joaquin section rivals, the St. Francis cross country team edged Davis Senior Saturday at the Yolo County Championships 42-49.

“We are very happy with the overall performance,” said assistant coach Mason Myers.

The Troubadours, ranked No. 3 in the state in the DyeStatCAL XC rankings, placed three runners in the top six overall to defeat the Blue Devils. Davis entered the meet No. 6 in the state rankings. It was the third consecutive team title for St. Francis in 2013.

Troubadour senior Lauren LaRocco was second overall behind Davis sophomore Fiona O’Keeffe in a matchup of two of the top runners in the state. Senior Madison Rawson was third overall, while junior Miranda Myers crossed the line sixth.

“The big factor was this was the first 5K of the year on a difficult course,” said Myers.

Complete team and individual results were not immediately available. Both teams were missing one of their top runners in the race. St. Francis junior Peyton Bilo is rehabbing an injury.

Camille Boudreaux was the fourth runner from St. Francis to finish, followed by Mallory Shingle. Chase Worthen, Chloe Kardasopoulos and Aerial Medina also ran for the Troubadour varsity unit.

St. Francis and Davis were also the top two teams a year ago in the Yolo County Championship meet with the Troubadours scoring 25 points to 35 for Davis.
