SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Elk Grove posted a 16-3 over St. Francis Wednesday dropping the Troubadours to 2-1 in league play.

“It is a disappointing loss,” said co-Head Coach Kevin Warren. “We have to back to practice tomorrow and start with basic fundamentals again and get them refocused.”

St. Francis (6-5) led early in the game 3-1 thru two innings. But the Thundering Herd posted four in the third, one in the fourth, six in the fifth and four in sixth to break open the game. Morgan Lamb hit a three-run home run in the third, knocking out starter Jada Kanemasu. She took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits over two innings.

“We need to pump ourselves up,” said junior Mel Baccay. “When a couple runs are scored, we can’t hang our heads. We have to keep our heads up.”

Danika Bailey went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Junior Akeylah Moses and Emily Ainsley each added two hits for St. Francis.

“We need to play like it is 0-0 and play each game like it is our hardest game and treat each game the same,” said Baccay.
