St. Francis Catholic High School’s Robotic Team Sponsored by Bishop-Wisecarver Group

News

St. Francis FIRST Robotics Team 692 “The Fembots” is proud to be sponsored for another year by Bishop-Wisecarver Group (BWG). BWC recently announced this sponsorship in a press release on their website: http://www.bwc.com/about/press-release/bishop-wisecarver-promotes-stem-diamond-supplier-first-competition. St. Francis is privileged to be one of four schools this year to have a FIRST Robotics team sponsored by the company.

The FIRST Robotics Competition is a yearly robotics challenge that requires students to build and program a robot in only six weeks. It forms a key component to St. Francis’ overall STEM program, and the support of corporate sponsors is essential to its success. We are grateful that BWG has once again partnered with us.

In addition to the press release, BWG will be featuring interviews with three team members on their corporate blog. The first interview with coach Peter Strawn can be found on the Bishop-Wisecarver Group website: http://www.bwc.com/blog/post/q&a-with-frc-team-692-the-fembots/. We look forward to future interviews with Programming Team Lead Allison Oliveros ’17 and Electronics Team Lead Melanie Gustafson ’17, being featured on the BWG website.

Last year St. Francis’ Robotics team was one of only 12 all-girl teams in California and one of only 35 all-girl teams in the world.

St. Francis Catholic High School will contend in the regional competition at University of California, Davis from March 23-26, 2016.
