Tennis Opens B.O.S.S. Tournament with Win over Folsom

FOLSOM, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis team opened the 2017 season with a 9-0 win over Folsom in the opening round of the B.O.S.S. Tournament Friday. The Troubadours will play Granite Bay in the semifinals on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Rocklin High School.

The Troubadours (1-0) swept all nine matches, winning eight of the nine in straight sets. Junior Myra Anwar lost just a single game in her sweep at No. 1 singles. Sophomore Adithi Benush was a winner at No. 2 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Melody Gao. Freshman Alisha Anwar won her high school debut with a win at No. 3 singles. Seniors Kyla Jackson, Marisa Fat and Kiya Jackson each won their openers.

St. Francis also got strong play in doubles with sophomore Peyton Spellacy and freshman Alex Evans winning at the top spot. Senior Cameron Parra and freshman Izzy Asker paired to post a win at No. 2, while sophomore Bianca Ariza and Sam Sonntag posted a win at No. 3.
