ROCKLIN, Calif. – The St. Francis tennis team captured the B.O.S.S. Tournament title with wins over Granite Bay in the semifinals and McClatchy in the finals on Saturday to complete the opening weekend with a perfect 3-0 record.

“It is a great way to start off the season,” said freshman Alisha Anwar. “Everyone has started off really well and it has helped everyone’s confidence.”

Anwar, who was playing her first prep matches, went 3-0 in her first matches. She won her match in the finals with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles.

The Troubies also got singles wins by Kyla and Kiya Jackson, freshmen Izzy Asker and sophomore Adithi Benush. SF added two points in the doubles with sophomore Peyton Spellacy and freshman Alex Evans winning 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, while sophomores Bianca Ariza and Sam Sonntag posted a straight set win at No. 2.

“It feels good and is really reassuring for the rest of the season,” said Benush, who won her match at No. 2 in the finals. “We are playing really well. It let us know how strong we are as a team and we are going to do really well the rest of the way.”
