Vaulters Clear New Heights at Mustang Invite

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis track and field team continued to get strong performances on Saturday from their vaulting unit, winning two competitions at the Delta Mustang Invitational.

The SF pole vaulters took first in Frosh/Soph and Varsity divisions on Saturday. Senior Olivia Birmingham won varsity with vault at 9-0, while freshman Meghan Ladd won the F/S competition.

“There is no doubt now that Meghan is a gifted and talented athlete,” said Vault coach Mike Kenison. “The thrill is to watch her commitment and effort each day and those are the qualities that make her exceptional.”

Ladd reset the Freshman record for the fourth time this season at 10-0.

“It feels really good,” said Ladd of breaking the mark again. “It is really exciting to get new personal-bests. I just started trying it during cross country season. I like jumping high and getting off the ground.”

The old freshman record was 8-1. She is now the second best vaulter for all divisions in the Delta league behind Emil Meyer from Davis at 11-8.
