SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis posted a 3-0 win over Sheldon on Tuesday behind a strong hitting night from captains Claire Schutz and Claire Barbe and freshman Alexa Edwards. The Troubadours cruised to a 25-7, 25-15, 25-8 win over the Huskies.

“We tried our best to execute more complicated plays and we did that really well tonight,” said Schutz, who hit a team-best 58 percent. “It gives our girls a lot of confidence in themselves heading into the game at Franklin.”

Edwards led the team with nine kills, while Schutz recorded eight and Barbe notched seven. Madelyn Schildmeyer had 17 assists and Emily Davis recorded 11 digs.

“It was really good to see our pin hitters hit so well,” said Head Coach Alynn Wright. “It is something we have been working on. I would have liked to see more action in the middle than what we did. We are getting there. We were serving areas difficult than we have been and still need to play more focused defense.”

St. Francis returns to the court at Franklin on Wednesday.

“We are trying to make practice really intense and game-like so we can be ready for games like Elk Grove,” said Schutz.

The Troubadours stand in third place in the Delta League standings at 3-2.
