Water Polo Finishes Ninth in Capital Challenge

ROCKLIN, Calif. – The St. Francis water polo team went 3-1 at the Capital Challenge and finished in ninth place in the two-day tournament held at several high schools across the area.

St. Francis opened with an 8-3 loss to Buchanan Friday morning but rebounded in the second game against Del Oro in their home pool. Sophomore Kendall Houck scored three straight goals as part of a four-goal game. Libby Slater added two goals as the Troubadours went into Saturday with the momentum.

St. Francis faced Rio Americano for the second time this week, handing the Raiders an 8-4 loss. Houck opened the game with two goals to start the Troubies with a 2-1 lead at the half. Caroline Wilkins scored three goals in the second half with Libby Slater (2) and Reagan Garcia each finding the back of the cage.

Zoe Sloat score twice in the consolation championship against Los Lomas as SF won 6-3.

St. Francis (7-4) plays at St. Mary’s on Wednesday.
