Water Polo Gets 12-4 Win over McClatchy

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Four players scored two goals each and senior goalie Maddy Vine made nine saves as St. Francis posted a 12-4 victory over McClatchy Friday night.

“I am happy with the win,” said Head Coach Heather Moody. “I feel like we still have some things to work on, including our spacing offensively and our passing. We have to get our passing down a little more so we can get our 6-on-5 to score. Overall, it was nice and everyone hit the water.”

St. Francis (2-4) jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, scoring two in the second, three in the third and three in the fourth.

Sophomore Malia Arnott, senior Aubree Barr, freshman Caroline Wilkins and senior Sally Ferguson each scored two goals in the contest. Freshmen Kendall Houck and Alyssa Jacobsen and seniors Kayla Wehner and Frances Barbour added goals.

“The key for me was to stay calm and be in the moment knowing all of my teammates are supporting me,” said Barr. “We are going to work on our passing and getting stronger and more united as a team so we can flow and work better together.”

Senior Maddy Vine had a good game in the cage for the Troubadours.

The JV team posted a 13-3 win in the second game.
