2015 Volleyball Highlights

  • St. Francis advanced to the Sac-Joaquin Section quarterfinals before losing to eventual winner Granite Bay. They were the No. 4 seed overall entering the tournament.
  • The Troubadours posted a 20-16 overall record under Head Coach Alynn Wright, who coached her 27th season at St. Francis.
  • The Troubadours finished third in the Delta League with a 10-4 overall record.
  • Three St. Francis volleyball players earned Delta All-League honors in 2015 as voted by the league coaches. Senior Ashlynn Fresques joined juniors Kelsey Grover and Claire Schutz on the all-league team.
  • Fresques was second on the team in kills with a team-best 3.8 kills per set. She recorded double-digit kills in 12 of 16 matches played. She was also selected to play in the Optimist All-Star game.
  • Grover recorded a team-best 463 assists on the season, averaging 6.3 per set. She was third in the league in total assists.
  • Schutz led the team in kills with 222 on the season, ranging fourth in the league in total kills, while hitting 20.9 percent. She had 17 blocks with 52 digs on the season.
  • Nina Sanfilippo was the recipient of the Delta League Sportsmanship Award and the Booster Club Leadership Award.
  • St. Francis battled five sets before falling to Christian Brothers in front of a sold out crowd Thursday in the annual Holy Court matchup between the schools.
  • Hosting a Blood Cancer Awareness Night in support of Troubadour junior Natalie Woodruff, who is fighting Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, the Troubies played one of the best matches of the season with a 25-17, 25-17, 25-16 Delta League win.
  • St. Francis finished tied for third at its Super 8 Invitational on Saturday after falling in the championship bracket semifinals to Campolindo 25-18, 25-21.
  • Fresques has committed to play volleyball at Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego.
  • Alumna Zoe Nightingale ’11 helped the top-ranked USC Trojans win the inaugural NCAA Beach Volleyball Championship with a 3-0 win over No. 2 Florida State. The Women of Troy completed the year on an incredible 30-match winning streak.
