SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis varsity water polo tryouts start on Aug. 14 from 5:30-8 p.m. at Jesuit High School and continue Aug. 15-18. The team will be named on Friday, August 18. The Junior Varsity (no-cut) will have practice Aug. 14-18 from 5:30-7:15 a.m. at Rio Americano High School. JV Participants must be able to swim 8 laps of freestyle without stopping. All participants need to have a current physical on form with St. Francis prior to participation.
Varsity Tennis Tryouts will be Wednesday August 16 thru Friday August 18. They will be at Rio Del Oro Racquet Club from 3:30-5:30 p.m.. Tryouts are closed to parents. Please bring appropriate tennis clothes and shoes, tennis racquet, sunscreen and lots of water. Any questions, please email Head Coach Kristi Spector. Sports Physical forms must be competed ahead of time or your child will not be allowed on the court.
Summer Fun Runs begin Monday, June 5. All runners should meet for first practice at Glenn Hall Park from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Practices will be held Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights and Saturday mornings (9:00 a.m-10:30 a.m.) from June 5-August 2. Practice locations may change, but will be communicated by email and on the practice schedule.
The “Fun Runs” are not official St. Francis cross country practices but coordinated thru Sacramento Elite. Participation is voluntary but summer conditioning is encouraged prior to the season.

Pitchers and Catchers will work out at the field starting Wednesday and will have work outs Feb. 1-3 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Full team tryouts start Feb. 6-10 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. each day. All players must have a physical on file prior to competing in tryouts.
The Lacrosse team will be doing preseason conditioning starting Tuesday, January 17 and will meet every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday until the official start of practice. Players should meet in the gym lobby. Physicals must be on file with Athletic Trainer Kelly Ketcham.
The Softball program will be conditioning Monday, Wednesday, Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the fitness center. Sessions will be held weekly until winter break. Student-athletes must have a physical on file to participate in the activity.
Varsity and JV Gold soccer will have tryouts at Granite Regional Park from 3:30-5:00 p.m. JV Red soccer tryouts will be on the soccer field on campus from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Starting placements for the JV teams can be found here. Varsity basketball tryouts will be in the gym from 3:30-5:30 p.m., while JV basketball tryouts will be in the Armory 5:30-7:30 p.m. The Freshmen basketball tryouts will be in the Armory 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Pre-pre-season conditioning will begin October 3. These workouts will be held at Jesuit High School on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays starting at around 3:30. These workouts will be relatively short (approx.1 hour) focused on general conditioning and overall fitness, with some attention to technique for sprinters and hurdlers.
Basketball conditioning begins Thursday, October 1 from 3:30 to 5:15 p.m.in the Armory. Although conditioning is not mandatory, it is highly recommended. All 3 levels – varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen – participate in conditioning. On Friday, October 2 we will meet in the Fitness Center. The varsity will go from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and the jv and frosh will go from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.. Other than the first two days, we will meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in the Armory, and Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Fitness Center.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Practices for the 2015 St. Francis cross country season start on Monday, August 10 at the school with workouts from 6:30 p.m. to 8:15/8:30 p.m. Times for practice on Saturday, August 15 will be 9:30-11:30 a.m. at St. Francis.
All participants need to have a current physical on form with St. Francis prior to participation. During the first week of school, practice will shift to after school from 3:20-5:00/5:15 p.m. Monday thru Thursday.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis volleyball program will host open gyms on Monday and Wednesday afternoons starting June 22 for four weeks before beginning conditioning on August 3.
Head Coach Alynn Wright will start open gyms June 22 and 24 from 4-6 p.m. each night followed by sessions from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. starting June 29. The remaining July dates are July 1, 6, 8, 13 (Armory), 15 (Armory). Conditioning will be held the week of August 3 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. each day in the Armory.
Diving practice starts Monday, Feb. 16 from 3-4:30 p.m. at Capital Diving. Student-athletes must have their 2014-15 physical on file with Athletics department before participating. For questions, contact Head Coach Dede Crayne via email at email@example.com.
The Booster Club starts each school year with Sports Physical Night. This is an excellent opportunity for all athletes to complete their required physical exam for any sport, even springtime sports. The cost is nominal and athletes, along with their parents, will have an opportunity to meet many coaches. This evening also offers on-campus fingerprinting services for our incoming parent volunteers and a chance to shop the Troubie Store for uniform needs. Every student on an SFHS sports team must have a current Preparticipation Physical Formon file prior to the first work-out. Physicals are good for the 2017-18 season performed after June 1. To facilitate this process, St. Francis High School’s Booster Club is sponsoring a Sports Physical Clinic.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Tryout schedules for volleyball, water polo and cross country have been adjusted on Tuesday, August 12 for the Memorial Service for Brian Dodson on campus.
Volleyball will now have all workouts in the morning with the varsity tryouts on the court from 8-10 a.m., while the junior varsity and freshmen workouts will be held from 10-Noon. Both take place in the St. Francis gym on campus.
