FOLSOM, Calif. – St. Francis was led by two golfers under par to post a Delta River League win over Folsom Monday at Empire Ranch Golf Club. The Troubadours shot a 200 for their top five players to 288 for Folsom.

Seniors Victoria Vardanega and Emily Laskin were both under par for nine holes in the first group. Laskin led the team with a three-under par 33, while Vardanega carded a one-under par 35.

“The greens were really pure and I putted really well,” said Vardanega. “Emily and I have been teammates for four years. We have that bond. Cheering each other on is really important. I feel like I would not have shot as well if Emily had not been there with me.”

Ileana MacDonald posted a 41 and sophomore Victoria Ramirez recorded a 45. Sophomore Kate Swanson shot a 46, while classmate Caitlin Autry posted a 47 in her first career varsity round.

The Troubadours host Pleasant Grove at Morgan Creek Golf Club in Roseville starting at 3 p.m.

“Pleasant Grove is our rival and there is a lot of pride riding on this match,” said Vardanega. “We will practice really hard tomorrow and hope for the best on Wednesday.”

St. Francis remained undefeated on the season in dual matches and has won both DRL 18-hole events.
