SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The St. Francis basketball team was given a No. 8 seed in the Sac-Joaquin Section Girls Basketball Bracket announced Wednesday night. The Troubadours (19-7, 9-5 Delta) will host No. 9 seed Bella Vista on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at St. Francis at 7 p.m.

“Anytime you get in the playoffs it is great and when you get a home game in the playoffs it is even better,” said Head Coach Vic Pitton. “We are glad to have that first home game.”

Bella Vista went 19-7, 9-5 on the season to finish fourth in the Capital Valley League. Junior Rachel DiRegolo leads the team with 15.3 points and 9.1 rebounds per game.

“Bella Vista is a very good team with a lot of height,” said Pitton. “They have girls 6-2 and 6-3 across their front line and they are a force to be reckoned with.”

The winner of the St. Francis-Bella Vista matchup will take on No. 1 seed St. Mary’s on Thursday at St. Mary’s.

St. Francis and St. Mary’s scrimmaged back in November and both played in the Tournament of Champions in Phoenix but in different brackets.

Susie Rogers scored a game-high 21 points to lead No. 12 seed St. Francis to a 51-32 victory over No. 21 seed Edison in a first round matchup at home last season before the Troubadours fell to McClatchy in the second round.

Game time will be 7 p.m. against Bella Vista and the game will be shown online on TroubieTV.
