FOLSOM, Calif. – The St. Francis cross country team finished second at the Bronco Invitational Saturday with 50 team points as seniors Miranda Myers and Peyton Bilo each posted top-six performances.

“Overall the girls ran very well,” said assistant coach Rich Willet. “We had a good grouping and ran really tight. They ran hard and had good finishes.”

St. Francis, ranked eighth in the latest state rankings by PrepCalTrack.com, placed their top five all within the top 20. Sixth-ranked Clovis North won the meet with 37 points.

Myers led the Troubadour pack with a fourth-place finish in 19:20 with classmate Bilo just 13 seconds back in sixth (19:33).

“It was good to move up and mentally try to pick girls to move up,” said Bilo. “On the turnarounds, it was good to see Ariane, Sydney and Chase coming for me. It is great so see everyone packing up as the season goes along.”

Junior Ariane Arndt was 11th in 19:59, while freshman Sydney Vandegrift finished 15th overall in 20:11. Junior Chase Worthen was the fifth scorer for the team in 19th (20:35).

Gabrielle Dyer posted a time of 21:24 to finish 39th and Ariel Medina was 51st overall (22:10).

St. Francis will compete for the first Delta League title after the realignment at Willow Hills on Nov. 1.

“I think we have a good chance of going after Davis (3rd ranked in state) if we can all get out a little faster and keep our tempo and turnover on the second loop around,” said Bilo. “We should be good contenders for league.”
