SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Kristi Lee carded a three-over par 39 to lead the St. Francis golf team to a 209 team score in a dual match with Grant Monday at Haggin Oaks Arcade Course.

“Overall it is going pretty well,” said Lee. “I have been working on the small things.”

Lee recorded six pars and three bogies for a round that was just a shot off her career best.

“Even when I missed shots, I was able to get up and down for par,” said Lee. “Overall, it was a really good round and very consistent. I was very happy about that.”

Freshman Patricia Sweeney was one stroke back with a four-over par 40. She was one of four freshmen and sophomores to qualify for this tournament for the Troubadours joining freshman Olivia Alcoran and sophomores Lauren Liberatore and Chase Saca.

“Right from the start, I could tell these girls were going to be a great addition,” said Lee of the two freshmen in the lineup. “They have been working really hard and their dedication to the game really shows.”

Sweeney and Alcoran have combined to appear in seven duals, helping the team to a 42.3 team stroke average.

“I guess I went into it expecting I would do a little better,” said Sweeney. “During the summer I was shooting a little lower but overall I think I am doing pretty good.”

Saca posted a career-best 42 on Monday and Alcoran and Liberatore both had rounds of 44. Senior Kate Swanson also recorded a 44.

St. Francis improved to 4-0 in dual matches and won the only league center match.

“It gives us an opportunity to play against other girls and experience the competition,” said Sweeney of the dual match schedule.

St. Francis plays again on Wednesday against Sheldon at Wildhawk Golf Course.

“It makes me happy that all the hard work that we do pays off,” said Lee. “I am looking forward to see where these scores can take us during the season.”

Grant had three players in the dual but did not post a team score.
