Gregg’s Hat Trick Leads Soccer at Sheldon

ELK GROVE, Calif. – Junior Anna Gregg scored three goals including the game winner in the second half to lead St. Francis to a 3-2 win over Sheldon Thursday.

St. Francis took the early lead on the first goal by Gregg in the first half. Sheldon responded with a pair of goals to take a 2-1 lead. Gregg tied the game before halftime to send the teams into the break with the game tied at 2.

The game remained tied until Gregg scored again with about 20 minutes left in the game. The St. Francis defense and goalie Allie Carmickle protected the lead for the remainder of the game.

The Troubadours improved to 14-1-2 on the season and remained perfect in Delta River League action at 3-0.

Gregg has now scored 18 goals on the season and recorded her third hat trick after accomplishing the feat against Vacaville and Del Campo. She has scored two or more goals five times this season.

St. Francis is ranked No. 15 in the MaxPreps National Girls rankings and are listed as the third-best team in the state of California.

St. Francis plays three games next week before the Spring Break holiday. The host Elk Grove on Tuesday and Pleasant Grove on Wednesday before traveling to Ponderosa on Thursday.
