SACRAMENTO, Calif. – After a slow start, the St. Francis junior varsity basketball team posted a 45-37 victory over El Camino on Saturday, recording their second win in as many days and fourth straight overall.

“It was a good team effort and we did well,” said freshman Ally Gage, who led the team with nine rebounds.

St. Francis (18-3) was behind early 12-7 in the first quarter, just 22 hours after posting a 54-23 win over Pleasant Grove Friday night. The Troubadours outscored the Eagles 16-5 in the second to take control of the game and never trailed again.

“It was tough but we just have to remember to keep the energy up,” said sophomore Anne McDaniel, who added eight points in the win.

Sophomore Maggie Malaney scored six points in the quarter and classmate Morgan Kaeser added five of her eight points in the period. Freshmen Jorie Keitges scored a team-best 10 points in the game after an 18-point game versus Pleasant Grove.
