SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Adrienne Graybill scored a team and season–high 13 points as the St. Francis junior varsity basketball team won at Grant 58-16 Tuesday night.

The Troubadours opened up an early lead in the first quarter as Morgan Kaeser, Graybill and Maggie Malaney had multiple baskets in the first quarter.

“We really brought it together as a team,” said Graybill. “We scored a lot of points (running the floor) because we were the faster team.”

The St. Francis defensive effort kept the Pacers out of their offense most of the game and held them to single baskets in each of the next three quarters.

Annie McDaniel connected for two baskets in the second quarter as St. Francis (16-3) extended their lead to 31-10 at the break. She opened the second half with a three pointer to finish with eight points.

“I was really hoping to have a game where I could get my shot in rhythm,” said McDaniel. “I know I play good defense but my shot has been off.”

Graybill, who added seven steals, scored seven fourth-quarter points and Sarah Huang added five points as St. Francis had a 19-point quarter to finish the game.

Kaeser finished with 10 points, seven steals and six rebounds. Sophomore Nicole Frank led the team with eight boards and added seven points. Sophomore Maggie Malaney scored six points in the win.

The Troubadours begin the second half of league play on Friday night hosting Pleasant Grove.
