Soccer’s Erin Barr to Sign with Master’s College

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – St. Francis senior Erin Barr will play soccer at The Master’s College next fall.

“The first time I visited there was in 7th grade when my brothers were touring colleges,” said Barr about discovering her college choice. “I was interested but didn’t really know what the school was about. I came back and the coach contacted me about coming for a visit. I loved it. It is a great fit spiritually, academically and athletically.”

The Master’s College is a NAIA Division I school in Santa Clarita, Calif. They are committed to recruiting student athletes who possess a heart and life change brought about by a relationship with Jesus Christ. She will play for Head Coach Curtis Lewis.

“I believe God opened up a wonderful opportunity for me at The Master’s College and I am excited to pursue Christ’s calling for me,” said Barr. “I am most looking forward to the intellectual and thought-filled classes, future friends, and the camaraderie with my teammates.”

Barr has been a four-year player in the program for St. Francis, including three seasons with the varsity team after a sophomore year call up. She has been part of back-to-back Sac-Joaquin Section finals appearances and section title in 2014 and league title in 2013.

“Ever since I was a little girl I dreamed about playing college soccer,” said Barr. “Seeing my brothers play at Sacramento State and William Jessup and going to their games, it is what I have always wanted.”

Barr also plays for the Blues FC 97G club team, whom she helped lead to the GU 19 Nor Cal State Cup Champions Gold Cup title in 2014-15. She was also part of the 2014 ODP Regional IV Player Pool in 2014.

With her senior season fast approaching, she is excited for her final season in a Troubadour uniform.

“It has meant a lot,” said Barr about playing for St. Francis. “I have met a lot of good friends and been part of great competitive teams. Every time we step on the field we are out there for a battle.”

One of the added perks of playing for St. Francis has been the opportunity to play with her twin sister Aly. They will continue meeting on the pitch in college as Aly will play for conference rival William Jessup.

“First I think whenever we play against each other we are going as hard as we can,” said Barr. “We want to beat each other. Playing against each other will be a lot of fun. When we play with each other we have a great time. Now in our last season of playing high school together, we are taking in all the moments we can.”

With preseason conditioning wrapping up this week, the season is just days away.

“Preseason has been good and I think it will prepare us for the season,” said Barr. “There are a lot of girls at conditioning so that is a good sign. I am excited to compete for the championship this year.”

She will participate in the Soccer Signing Day event on campus on Wednesday. The event can be seen live on TroubieTV.
